connectFirst Credit Union Unveils Innovative Digital ID Solution in Collaboration with Celero Xpress

April 4, 2024 – In collaboration with Celero, connectFirst Credit Union has successfully launched Interac Sign-In Services (SecureKey) for their Celero Xpress™ digital banking platform, enabling a modern, digital identification solution that sets a new standard in online banking security and convenience.

The implementation, which was completed in the Q4 2023, marks a significant milestone for Alberta-based connectFirst and showcases its commitment to delivering value-added solutions to its members. connectFirst chose to adopt this technology so its members can seamlessly access Government of Canada (like Canada Revenue Agency) and select provincial government organizations online using this solution.

“At connectFirst, our members are at the heart of everything we do. The introduction of Interac Sign-In Services not only simplifies access to government platforms but also reinforces our dedication to providing seamless, secure, and member-centric financial services. We believe in empowering our members with the latest technologies that enhance their financial journey,” said Kendra Holland, Chief Executive Officer, connectFirst Credit Union.”

Providing Member Convenience Through a Security Experience

connectFirst members can trust in the security of using their existing credentials to access these portals, with the added assurance that the identity server on the government portal authenticates user credentials — without accessing their digital banking app, which ensures an extra layer of privacy. This provides connectFirst members with effortless and streamlined user experiences while maintaining Celero and connectFirst’s high standards of security.

What sets this digital ID solution apart is its flexibility, extending across Internet banking and online government portals. This ensures that members can enjoy enhanced convenience by accessing the service from various devices without compromising privacy and identity protection.

Driving Towards Open Banking and Payments Modernization

connectFirst’s adoption of Interac Sign-In Services in Celero Xpress provides their members with more secure options for accessing Government of Canada and provincial portals without having to manage extra credentials. This solution is integral to future-proofing financial practices and ensuring that members benefit from the latest advancements in the industry.

“This collaboration between Celero and connectFirst Credit Union will provide enhanced convenience and security for members in the credit union system. This implementation highlights connectFirst’s focus on staying at the forefront of technological advancements that advance the experience of their members,” says Deborah Moore, Vice President, Service Delivery, Celero. “In delivering this new solution for connectFirst, Celero is beginning to usher in a new era of secure and modern banking experiences for credit union members.”
