The credit union, which serves more than 75,000 members, selected Celero’s Aura platform for this initiative to support its mission to be a ‘true north partner’ to the 29 communities it serves.
Through the Loyal2Local initiative, Northern Credit Union is adding funds to each of its 273 employees’ Aura accounts, encouraging them to spend the funds locally and highlight the businesses they supported on social media.
“Our strategic focus and our culture are centered around enabling communities in Northern Ontario to thrive; we live by our mandate, True North Strong,” says Joshua Ingram, Community Outreach Manager at Northern Credit Union.
“The Loyal2Local initiative fits with our focus on supporting and stimulating local businesses through the ongoing pandemic. By using Aura as the platform to support our 5,000 local businesses, it also gives our employees the opportunity to participate and demonstrate our organizational values,” he adds.
Innovative platform supports local spending
Aura, which was launched to the Canadian credit union system by Celero earlier this year, is a reloadable Mastercard®, digital member experience and rewards solution.
Employees at Northern Credit Union can use Aura’s digital platform or physical card to purchase goods and services in their local communities, and take advantage of discounts, rewards and financial wellness features available through the innovative solution.
